Major thanks to Lucy for rec Still Wakes the Deep a few episodes back. This game is freaking awesome. It's like The Thing on an oil rig. Also switched to UK English if you play
Big fans of all three of you. I'm compelled to push back on one thing you all seemed in agreement on however: if a game takes 10 hours to get good, even if that's typical for the genre, or fans are used to it, that is still a flaw of the game, not of the people who aren't willing to push past it. The people who make those games should learn how to make the first 10 hours as good as the rest of it, and fans should keep complaining until they do.
Hi Yall, love the stuff you do, all 3 of you. Just wanted to ask what you may think about todays journalism? Where is it headed? How would you advise someone starting their journalistic career to start? Is Youtube journalism the future, past or the present? Where do you find your biggest challenges in your work to be?
Hey FPS, I have a user question. If Rockstar announced that GTA6 was going to cost $50, instead of the new standard $70, do you think it would have an effect on the industry?
Bonus question: Ralph what do you think is the best flavour Shapes and if the answer isn't chicken crumpy just like, what even are you
User question: Huge fan here guys, by far my favourite podcast, thank you for what you do. My question follows something you guys discussed in the Dragon Age episode, about people who watch gaming content but haven’t played something themselves for years. For me, under the relentless double-tap of work and life, it can be hard to find the time, but watching content such as your own helps fill some of that gap. Again, thank you.
Q: With this in mind, my question for you guys… What is your favourite ‘Let’s Play’ of all time? For me, it’s Many a True Nerd’s Crusader Kings III. That shit was the true Game of Thrones finale we all deserved.
User Question: Thanks for continuing to be so awesome; your discussion, thoughts and insight into “the world of video games” continues to be one of the highlights of my week/fortnight/month.
Q: Despite the best of intentions I often find I don’t manage to finish a game, even if I love it, as I get sidetracked by the new hotness or simply life gets in the way. Is this something that ever happens to you? How do you go about trying to make sure it doesn’t happen (If you do)? & What’s the one game you keep kicking yourself for not (as yet) going back to?
I’m still very annoyed at myself for leaving Baldur’s Gate 3 in limbo!
Great Episode as usual! Thanks for all the worthwile content as usual. I have a user question:
Whenever you promote the great content (mainly write ups) on the SkillUp patreon I wish you would just do a SkillUp website already. The content feels a bit scattered. FPS episodes on Substack with newsletter option, free editorials on patreon, curator list on steam, reviews/previews exclusive on youtube. Can't you put that squarespace sponsorship to good use and bring all those things on a dedicted website, not multiple platforms, or is it financially not feasible nowadays? A couple of FPS episodes back you were lamenting that most gaming websites have become unusable AI/SEO/Ad hell garbage. It would be ironic for people that created the alternative demand on youtube to fill that gaping hole created in the internet over the last couple of years. I still think there is demand for a good gaming website, do you?
I was at my local nerd/game store which is always reselling glorious finds, and found myself in the magazine section, where all the issues of Gameinformer were, old official guides, and promo magazines with demos were. I know all of you support game preservation, and actively contribute to it in my opinion by providing this space (I really appreciate it).
It got me thinking though, would FPS ever be willing to consider self publishing a physical copy/version of the podcast interviews and art? I believe that what you do is more than substantial to do so from not only a business perspective but also a passion standpoint. I saw a company, Lost in Cult who seems to have high quality art magazine coverage for indie games (Shout Out my Boy ShillUp), and it made me think "Why Not FPS?"
I've sunk 30hrs into Metaphor so far and it's easily GOTY for me (it'd have to do something seriously wrong in the remaining however many hours for me for it to change that), most likely it'll end up being one of my favourite games of all time.
I'd add Animal Well to my list of other GOTY contenders, but metaphor easily eclipses that now.
Curious to know how Dragon Age will fare, but that'll have to wait a few months for me.

Appreciate you homies, Beers On Me!
What are the lego sets in Lucy's photo with the cute cats? (Thank you for the cats)
It's the Lord of the Rings Rivendell set (that I need to finish, haha)!
😍
