ICYMI: We ask Valve the big questions around the Steam Machine, Frame & Controller | FPS Podcast #83
PLUS: Game Awards discussion, Metroid Prime 4, Blake Manor, Lumines and MORE
Howdy Users,
Hope you’re having a lovely Monday wherever you are. We’re gearing up for the end of the year chaos: The Geoffs, Game of the Year, attempting to chip away at our backlog, the usual. We had an exciting episode of the podcast last week and just in case you missed it, here are the highlights:
We only went and spoke to Lawrence Yang and Pierre-Loup Griffais from Valve all about their new hardware
It’s awards season! The Game Awards nominees went out just before we recorded, so we discussed our predictions, hopes, dreams, and the biggest snubs from the list
Jake’s been thinking a lot about the Roman Empire lately because he’s been deep into playing Anno 117: Pax Romana
It’s not long until Metroid Prime 4 comes out, Ralph and Jake have a quick preview based on their hands-on time
Lucy is absolutely obsessed with The Séance of Blake Manor
We finally got the Ralph take on ARC Raiders
And if that’s not enough, we’ve got Ambrosia Sky, Where Winds Meet, Kirby Air Riders and more!
The Friends Per Second podcast will return this weekend with:
The Séance of Blake Manor interview
Metroid Prime 4
HORSES
And more!
It was Thanksgiving last weekend here in the States, and we are very thankful for you all!
We’ll have a cracking show for you this week, looking forward to getting it out there. Catch you soon! xo L

Love the show, been meaning to ask this for ages and it might be too late now, but — would you guys consider doing an FPS GOTY episode? GOTY podcasts are some of my favorites of the year and people come up with such creative approaches to them, and an FPS one would be so fun. You could solicit some guest lists from friends of the show, or just do a top 10 from each of you, or a collective top 5, honorable mentions, etc. whatever best suits the show! Just wanted to throw it out there, from a longtime user/first time commenter. Cheers and happy holidays!
I really enjoyed the GabeCube chat. I agree with Ralph's "who is this for?" argument, then again, maybe this is more about positioning than moving units. There is going to be a console shaped hole where Xbox used to be and who else is going to fill it?....All Valve needs is for Windows to continue to be problematic... its a good bet, since they've had all of recorded history to make a decent OS and have yet to succeeded (in fairness XP was close). If Valve only moves 1 million of these they will have lost nothing, if it takes off... Sony will have a serious contender with a well established user base.
